Just A Shimokita Old Lady Day

So lately I've been on a long journey of sick, it seems. I caught a really bad cold and lost my voice for a while, it lasted ages, and finally I was back to normal and the vertigo hit me. Hard, too, I was barely able to work half this week. Then right at the end of the week, when it seems I'm getting better, here comes another cold. もういいわ!! D:

Needless to say, I've been doing nothing but laying as still as possible and pretending I'm an old person recently.

I did however, stumble out into the world today in search of a shower curtain and in light of my joy at spending money, I drew a postcard about it... Dun dun duuuuun!

Shimokita Baachan Day 6/7

I got the idea from a book I stumbled upon in the ladies magazines.

Cherry Coke bottle 2 by Outa Uni

It's the second half of a collection of columns drawn for Zipper magazine (bottle 1 wasn't in the store). It's super cute, though, and as the band says, a Shopping Diary, where she drew items, outfits, and coordinates etc related to fashion and her shopping adventures. There are lots of notes and cute little sidebars about failing the diet, etc. It's really adorable and super entertaining.

Random page

I love stuff like this, where I can just stare at it for hours and soak in every little detail. Anyway, I recommend it to anyone who likes things like that. Also, not so expensive, only about ¥1300. :)

Anyway, as the postcard drawing says, I couldn't find a shower curtain I liked, but I finally got a bath mat!

Cuuuuute.

The plan is to have flowers on everything in the bathroom including some fake flowers. I want it to be like a tiny garden with a cat in the middle when you open the door. Because I'm ridiculous and this is where lying as still as possible in one position all week has put my priorities.

Anyway, that's all from me. Happy June!

Soup and the Devil

Sup?

Last Tuesday, usually my Saturday I worked, so in a sort of effort to preserve the sacredness of luxurious weekend living, I went for some delicious soup with Katie. We had just had a magical realization about the lack of proper soup in our lives the week before, so it only seemed appropriate.

Tokyo Borshiche + Foccacia

Mine was more of a stew, but fabulous. That foccacia was like a puffed up cracker, but in an awesome way.

The face of excitement.

Katie gazed into the a-bisque. Lolololololoooool I'm hilarious.

Bitches love soup.

Granted this shopping center is central and always busy, the line at this place is pretty much constant. And this on a Wednesday.

Bitter chocolate + Tira misu

Afterwards we meandered across the hall for gelato, because that's the proper thing to do. It was perfect of course. And I'll stop talking about food now, I swear. :D

Also did some accidental art this week. Didn't mean to draw him, but it's Takeru from SuG.

Inking

And then I figured, since I'm certain there's something very dark and twisted behind all those bright colors, I wouldn't care about ruining this with some colored pencil practice.

That shoulder pad is outta control.

I'm not good at coloring, but I'm kinda proud of the impact of just how colorful this is. My blending is really rough and I can't seem to give much forethought to what colors I'm putting where, so I really need to practice a lot more. For the meantime though, I'm stuck with this. It's on a postcard, also, so if anyone happening to read this would like some lulzy postcard in the mail of Takeru from SuG, please leave me a comment. I will jot your addy, stamp and send it your way stat. :)

Nothing else for the moment. I'm quite sleepy and I am going to youtube myself to lala land now.

Oh, and cute accessories I shouldn't have bought!

Drawing Wednesday

I haven't drawn in a while, really, but after being constantly moving since I got to Osaka, I decided there would be no better way to spend my day off yesterday. So I sat blissfully on my cushy couch with Grimm on for background noise and drew.

Preliminary sketch.

He started out with pretty short hair, but it got longer as I inked, haha.

He's a character I have only ever really drawn a couple of times before. I'm such a dork with my characters.

An older drawing of him...

Haha, anyways. I'm so sleepy and my feet are cold! Good night.

Wig Time!

Howdy, there!

So, yesterday when I got home there was a lovely package waiting on my doorstep for me adorned with many cute kitty and Halloween stickers!

Checking the sender on the box, it was confirmed: my beautiful new wig from Minty Mix had shipped in just two business days! *__*

I've never owned a serious wig before, but seeing a friend's cute loli wigs all the time, I finally caved in and purchased this two-toned brown/tan split curly wig. And I can scarcely remember the last time I was filled with such girlish enthusiasm.

Anyway, the bangs need a little trimming/fixing, and I need to go through it make it a little more orderly, but I couldn't wait, so I put it on right outta' the box!

They even very kindly included a hair net for containing your natural hair! My hair, however, is quite thick and long and made the wig cap feel somewhat unstable, so I used a cute usamimi hair tie from Primark to make it look more natural.

Coordinate
☆ Dress - SUPER LOVERS
☆    Vest - CECIL McBEE
☆    Boots - Forever21

The wig also comes with two large side-ponies for a sweet lolita look. I really bought the wig for the main head piece, since I'm not a lolita or anything, but I tried them on of course. And the result was beyond words.

PSYCHOPATH. HAHAHAHA

I am in love with myself.

Since it's my first wig, I can't speak too knowledgeably about it, but I do think the quality is quite good for the just-under $60 I paid for it. It's not too shiny, which is one of the things that usually makes wigs look cheap, imo, but has a nice sandy color quality that makes it noticeably doll like. Maybe if you're looking for a wig that appears completely like natural hair, this isn't the wig for you, but I personally like the doll-like texture and quality of it, so for me it's perfect.

I made a careful analysis, too, about my feelings before and after the arrival of the wig:

Best decision ever.

The package also included the most adorable little business card (bottom) and logo sticker! The little zombie plushie is just a stray that found his way into the photo. He has nothing to do with this. XD

Anyway, that's all for my perfect life right now. I'm off to see Puss in Boots in a while.

Graduation, Living Situation, and Gone on Vacation (Image Heavy)

hey hey hey

First things first...

Somebody graduated! And I'll give you a hint: she looks just like me!

I really thought the experience would be more gratifying, but afterwards I just spent the evening alone buzzing on watermelon vodka, watching Cheers and packing up my room. I guess I'm kind of sad to leave Athens after all. It's been like my real American home more so than the actual town I'm from. I feel very comfortable there, and that's where I met all of my friends--and it's still the meeting point, it seems, even though everyone's moved out. :(

And my room. I took some last shots of it's glory (and cleaned it for the purpose) before disassembling it all Friday night. I thought I would post them here, since I really love when people post pictures of their living spaces.

Last out of a total 3 times I ever made that bed, probably.

I wear a lot of black.

See that bottle of Tequila there. And those damn almonds.

My workspace. That postcard of William and Harry was a lulzy gift from Kelly's trip to London.
I just felt that should be clarified.

I'm sad to see it go, since it was all to my liking. And now the house is... a wreck.

....

I did take time out of my frantic packing mess to draw and paint my mum a late card for Mother's Day.

If you note the shoulder kitty, you'll see that I clearly play too much Poupee Girl.

After moving, however, my attentions turned to packing for my trip to London, Paris and Amsterdam. I leave tomorrow morning at 11, and wait it out at the airport until our 5:30 flight to London. The flight's supposed to last 8 hours, even though I swear I remember it being less before, so I'm bringing a sudoku book (once I get started I can't unhinge myself), and my DS to start playing this much neglected beauty:

In the process of packing, I dug up some old money, too. Don't you just get excited about spending leftover currency? 8D

It's nothing in pounds, but it's like $5 here, haha.

My packing checklist.

I also took a bit of time to gussy up an old Estee Lauder make up bag with some dollar bin bling from the craft store.

Not big enough for my make-up, but perfect for my toiletries.

It's a bit simple, but it's enough for now. Unfortunately the Amazing Goop glue I was going use to requires extra time to dry, so all of my stones will undoubtedly fall off throughout the trip and need to be fixed.

My suitcase is not even near full, either, so I have plenty of room for any cheap things I may pick up along the way (strict budget abiding).

One thing I absolutely can't forget, too, is Suzuki-san. He's a staple in my traveling arsenal and a very important person in my life. Perhaps you've seen him before?

Yep. He's a real dream boat.

But I'll be going now. I need to carefully select a sketchbook and arrange my carry-on. But as I won't be bringing my lap-top, good bye 'til June!

Oh yeah. And look at these sexy balloons:

Exams Make Me So Lazy

I have just one paper left, but it's going to be a real kick in the balls. I will be back when my hypothetical testicles have healed. <3

HOT THINGS

How's it hangin'? I was going to take pictures of my coordinates for the rest of last week, but that plan fell apart when Katie came to town and we were goofing off with our poupees until I was almost late for class. Needless to say, I left looking like a ballerina caveman. And I wish I were kidding about that.

If you've never seen a ballerina caveman, here's some visual aid:

And before you say anything, I know what you're thinking: That is clearly a disheveled Chinese aristocrat in a tutu with a dead bear! And you would be right.

However, I did manage to get a quick picture for Thursday...

Shirt: Sexy Dynamite London
Skirt: Bye Bye
Tights: Doll Kiss
Shoes: Cocue

And you can't tell, but I wore my Dolly Wink lashes to class that day, since I haven't before (because school people stare if you wear anything fancier than running shorts). I love them! They're so flexible and comfortable, and not heavy at all. I didn't even feel like I was wearing them.

The skirt is from a Bye Bye/One Way shop in Kawasaki's Lazona, that was on the sale rack for super cheap. It's my favorite skirt. I wish I could wear it more here without people asking "What are you all dressed up for?" It's super cute around the hem:

STEAMY. :D

And while I'm thinking of HOT THINGS, like my ByeBye skirt, and ancient Chinese nobility: There's a Summer Gal Give-Away going on @ Utsukushii Gal. It's cute and I only found her blog recently, but I'm really enjoying it.

I've realized lately, I've only been following maybe the same four blogs closely for a while, and it's really time to branch out.

But yes, this week of finals, then I can finally get on with my life. Until next time, I leave you with this ambiguous picture:

Some days

You know how some days you feel like...

Well, some days you just feel like...

But whatever. Lately I just like to unwind with a Corona and Grey's Anatomy and consider the finer things in life...
